well my old picabo girl has help us locate deer before..she has never been taught to track but when she has come across them she won't leave it and in truth for the trials and guiding a discourage tracking with the nose down for the most part unless of course it is for a downed bird
any way....last night a client shot at a deer and hit it so this morning i grabbed picabo to see if we can come across it in the woods of Ohio in our search Picabo was running around and she Slammed on point .To bad I didn't have a shotgun with me cause it was her first ever encounter with a grouse ...I have never been grouse hunting before would have been cool but seeing her go on point on a new speciaes of bird was pretty darn cool and in truth when the bird flushed ..sometmes my shooting is not the greatest..but at least I can say I didn't miss it
unfortuantely we didn't find the deer Will keep our eyes open for it ..maybe he didn't get a fatal shot as there was no signs of blood either
but next week i am picking up a silky and she will be taught to track wounded animals
