I'm hoping maybe someone has some ideas here because after $500 in tests at the vet we really don't know any more than when we went.
My 3 year old male Brittany hasn't been eating all week. He has been throwing up. So after about 2 days of this & he was clearly not feeling any better I took him to the vet. They did x-rays to make sure he hadn't eaten/swallowed anything that might be possibly obstructing his insides & nothing was found. They did all the usual tests: fecal, urine, parasite, rectal, prostate (poor guy!). He had just had his annual check up, shots, etc a couple months ago. They didn't find anything.
They gave him fluids to ward off dehydration & an injection to help control the vomiting. He came home with 2 Rx. (the generic for Tagamet & Flagyl) Instructions are to start him slowly back with water & bland Rx EN diet.
The only thing that they really found on physical exam is that his belly area was clearly tender to the touch. (he yelped when the vet was palpating it) A couple hours later she did it again & said he was less painful.
Poor guy clearly feels under the weather. I mean he's 3 years old & with all the snow & cold weather we've had his outdoor time has been greatly curtailed so normally he would be bouncing off the walls but instead he just wants to lay around.

Did they test for lyme and other tickborne illnesses? I'm finding lyme disease can present in a million different ways. Not sure about vomiting, but certainly loss of appetite and lethargy.
Please keep us posted!!

No they didn't test for any of those. I will ask about it when I go back on Monday for more tests. He seems a little more himself today but he's really not eating at all which concerns me a lot.
