If a person were to send a dog out to a trainer for training and handling to his FC title (he is already a CH), what kind of monthly costs would a person be looking at? I know it depends on region, so let's look at the Texas area (Blueridge, I hope you will comment). I believe this dog has what it takes to be a Dual (he is a son of DC Lafayette Border Baron [by DC Masked Shoshoni War Chief]). Thanks! If anyone wants to comment on any other region, that would be welcome as well. You can email me privately, if you prefer. carverbrittanys@yahoo.com

It is too bad that this reply was private as it would have been helpful to have this question answered fro all. I have a friend who campaigns all age brittanys in the midwest. He told me that he runs a dog from august through april with a pro trainer. He pays 400.00 per month plus a handling fee each time the dog runs, which is about 45.00 for 30 minute stakes and 60.00 for 1 hours. In a month his dog usually runs in about 2 1 hours and 3 1/2 hours so total handling fees about his cost tot the trainer is about 625.00 per month on average plus entry fees of about 375.00 per month for a total of about 1000.00 per month for about 7 months which is about 7000.00 per year for a whole season. HE has run for 2 years and has 1 blue ribbon...so you can see its pretty expensive.

I might add to what bigbirdhunter said. It is pretty common for the pros to charge a handling fee equal to the entry fee for the 1 hour stake. One hour entries are in the 100 to 150 range. They also keep the prize money.
