I am looking for a good female brittany that I can aquire to breed to my super hunting dog Jack. He is a very good dog and I have killed a lot of wild birds over him, he has a good nose and is a great retriever. I really want to get a pup out of him because I know that he will make a great sire. I have a couple of friends who also want pups. The female that I am looking for should be from good hunters, preferably not field trial dogs as I am just looking for good hunting stock that does not run off like field trial dogs. Color could be liver or orange but I prefer liver. I am located in the middle of the country so I would prefer something between texas and kansas and colorado and tennesee. If you can help me please send me a PM and some information about your dogs. Again I need the female to be from good hunters with lots of bird desire, and hoepfully from stock that produces good litters. Thanks for your help

Bigbirdhunter, There are many good and even great field trial dogs that don't run off. Even All Age dogs, if they are trained properly so they know there is a difference between a field trial and hunting situation. An experienced dog will repond to a foot handler, a horse or a vehicle if you take the time to train them. I put JH on all my dogs just for the fun of it and to keep my wife active, but two dogs also have a DC in front of their name. You may be eliminating some great stock from a breeding program by saying no field trial dogs. Any way, good luck in your search.

May I second that Ken. My Major dog, who is a true all age dog from ear to tail is also an amazing hunting dog. A friend who guides hunts down in South Texas on the King Ranch called us up one season and said he had a really special hunt coming up and he need a few extra good dogs, so Major answered the call. After the hunt they said he was their favorite to work over both strictly hunting dogs and field trialers alike. This special hunt was a guide for former President George Bush and Jim Baker! So, field trial dogs can hunt!! Laura Wilder Touch of Class Ranch
