I"m posting this for my 10 year old son Thomas. He has a hard time typing with his splint/cast on. This past weekend Thomas handled our male britt Fester who is a Master Hunter in the Junior stakes. This was his first time running a dog at a hunt test. Thomas did an outstanding job handling Fester both days and qualifying him. He got really great scores and they found 7 birds on Sat and 5 on Sun. Fester did a great job hunting for Thomas and getting him introduced to the sport. Thomas is hooked on hunt tests and hoping to run in another hunt test but this time with his own puppy. Our club St. Croix Valley in MN was outstanding in their support to help and get Thomas involved in the sport.

Congrats. I think we have Jr's involved in almost everything britts can do in here. My kids do conformation and obedience and Thomas is now doing field tests and field trials. Congrats to them both for a great job in the field. Glad he likes it and is hooked.

Thomas will be doing more Junior events this fall. On Friday we suprised him with his own britt pup which he had named "Yoda" over a year ago. He's been wanting his own pup and now he is so excited to work with him. They are bonding right now and enjoying the puppy stages. ;D

2 weeks ago Thomas handled Yoda for a JH ribbon. He was very excited as the young pup disappeared on him during the first run. This was a double hunt test weekend. I handled Yoda for 2 qualifiying scores before THomas got his 3rd of the weekend. In 2 weeks Thomas will handle Yoda again. This pup can run and is so intense on his birds. He was hard for me to handle so it is remarkable for his 11 year old master to put a qualify on him.

Thomas and Yoda have done well. Last year Thomas finished Yoda's JH and placed him in a field trial. He also put an International Show title on Yoda and showed in a few AKC shows as a Junior and in Breed. This winter Thomas was named Junior Handler of the year at the MN Brittany Club banquet. This past weekend Thomas took Best Junior Handler at the Iowa Specialty show. Also this past weekend and more impressive was Thomas handling Yoda in the Central Futurities show, winning his Senior Class and taking 3rd money male. Yoda and I took a 3rd in gun dog the day before. Shortly after winning 3rd money male we learned that Yoda was the "Dual Dog' of the Central Futurity. I am so proud of what Yoda has accomplished and his young 12 year old handler for doing such a great job.
Proud Mom, Jackie
Get your kids involved in showing & field events they will love it.
