Besides the different titles you earn, what are the main differences between a field trial, and an advanced level hunt test?

Field trials can be on foot or horseback
Hunt tests are always on foot
Hunt tests require a retrieve to hand, Brittanys do not have to participate in retrieving stakes at field trials, so no live ammunition at a Brittany trial either.
Hunt tests have bird fields, most field trials do not.
Field trial dogs typically run bigger (even the gun dogs) than a hunt test dog does.
Hunt tests are pass/fail events where the dog competes against a standard. Many dogs can earn legs toward their hunt test titles at the same test.
Field trials are win/loose events. The dogs perform to meet/exceed a standard AND other dogs.

In addition to what Karen said, Hunt Tests require that the dog demonstrate all of the skills of a hunting dog. Pointing, steadiness to wing shot and fall until released. Marking the bird and retrieving to hand. Honoring without being commanded to do so. And the dog cannot be held by the collar while under judgment.
In some ways the standard is tougher than field trials. Many trials are won without the dog honoring.....In fact it is sort of frowned upon by many. Some trials are retrieving, although the standard in field trials is much lower. Brittany trials are rarely retrieving as it's not required for some reason.
Both venues have their place, and require different capabilities from the dogs.
